I have a tile slither (can't think of better term) of about 2.5cm x 5.6cm which will be on the left hand side of the door frame. Am I asking for trouble here in terms of it breaking off? I could theoretically cut another tile so that there will be 5.6x 5.6cm square but actually that would be further into the door so people are more likely to step on it. Which would be better?

Not a pro but if you ensure there's solid adhesive under that area surely it will be fine?
You could undercut the architrave to make the "flag" bigger(so stronger?)

Unless someone stands right next to the frame with full weight why would it break if fully supported?

Ok. Thanks for your help! :)

I've cut a few around skirting boards, plenty of adhesive and none have cracked.

I've left 6 mm space around the edge of the walls (which is fine because I'm putting panelling and skirting over so will hide) but around the door, can I put the tile right up to the door architrave or does that defeat the point of the space around if one part of the tile is touching the architrave?

I have mine snug to the architrave, tiles done expand from what I've seen so no need for an expansion gap like laminate or wooden flooring.
