Hello,

Over the past few months I have noticed some cracks in the granite hearth underneath the stove. They have gotten progressively worse to the point where the hearth almost seems to have broken in two. Obviously this doesn't look very good and also I'm concerned that the hearth could collapse during use possibly posing a fire risk?

Four steps -

1) Remove stove

2) Remove Granite

3) Fit new granite

4) Refit stove

Thanks Bonni, do you know what may have caused the crack? The stove was only installed two years ago and it has only been used over the last 6 months, not before

Looks to be a hump in the middle under the crack which can only happen is the sides lack support . Slight movement in the stove along with its weight during use will act like a tile breaker. Agree the Bonni.
