Worcester Greenstar 42CDi boiler pressure key snapped and stuck

Hi

I have always left the key in the boiler since it was installed about 10 years ago as I was convinced I'd end up losing it or misplacing it somewhere.

A few days back I tried turning it to add a bit of water to the system as its just a fraction below 1 and due to it being so tight and hard to turn, I snapped off the bottom of the key.

So now the key is really stuck and in the 'unlock' position. I dont have enough to grip on to try and turn it to the locked position if I wanted to top up the system.

My question is (forgive me if this is obvious) can I still lossen the fauctet next to the key to add more water in even though the key is stuck on the locked position?

**I do have a plumber coming in 3 days to replace a part which is causing a small leak but Im wondering if I can do anything about the key situation before he comes?

as long as it is not over pressurising, just leave it alone untill your guy gets there, dont force it, the charging links are terrible and if you force it , it will leak

Yeah thanks Ian - I think deep down Id rather not mess with it and make things worse.

Its no where near overpressurising so I'll hang on a for few days.

To be honest most people leave them in anyway, wont do any harm, was just a really daft Idea by Worcester to be something different, if the other valve is not letting by and over pressurising the boiler I would just leave it, the dual seperation is a water By-law it is not dangerous in any way
