How did you feel in the days after you took the Astra Zeneca vaccination?

I just felt a bit off the day after having it. Maybe some joint / muscle ache type things for a couple of days then forgot it. I had a bit of a surprise when I woke up ~ 3weeks later as realised I had been feeling a bit off. Must have been less off than initially.
So do you mean three weeks later you suddenly realized that for the three weeks you'd actually been feeling unwell but just didn't realize it

Absolutely no sides, pain or discomfort at all. 21g pin (green) of the highest quality. Well played NHS. They obviously don't get their pins from finepix on Ebay LOL.
So is 21g pin (green) a grade of the needle used to inject you with the vaccine or is 21g pin (green) an electrical metaphor

F-i-L had second jab yesterday.

Was OK at first, then felt dreadful.and took.himself to bed.

Feels much better today.

Someone we know who works for AZ says if the reaction to the jab is bad, it shows your body's immune system is working as it should.

The after effects seem to last about 3 days by all accounts.

Exactly that ;) but only slightly unwell, hardly noticeable really. Hard to explain. Felt brighter and clearer headed. Mid week so probably ~2.5 weeks is closer.

The day after effects could be down to wondering about side effects. Maybe I didn't sleep so well the night before. Maybe my body decided to have a few slight aches and pains because of something I had done. On the other hand when the immune system gets active several things can change - temperature increases is one of them and that could be marginal. Aches can be a side effect of that as well.

I asked my GP about side effects. She said expect the sort of reaction you will have when your immune system is active. About sums it up really. The odd thing really about immediate effects is that it's injected into muscle so wont spread that quickly. The arm pain lots of people get will be down to muscle being stretched when it's injected. Some inflammation is to be expected when the immune system is active also temperature rises. Something in our system probably lets us know it's active as well. A tiny faction of people and it really is tiny get severe inflammation due to an over reactive immune system. That can happen following any vaccination and shouldn't be worried about.

They have said on a number of occasions that it takes ~3 weeks for the immune system to mop jabs up. That is a general thing with all of them. 3 weeks is expected to be the max other than older people with a maybe.

I should be getting my 2nd in the next few weeks. The biobank wants me to take an antibody test ;) On the strict understanding that I take no notice if it shows negative and do not alter my general covid behaviour due to the result which ever way it goes. Sounds like these tests diy style are still not 100% accurate. The blood has to be sent off for accurate testing.

My temperature increased slightly, not enough to set the alarm off on our thermometer, but slightly higher than usual for a day or so.

It could well be that others are experiencing longer periods of the side effects but not noticing them because the symptoms calm down to the point of being unoticeable.

Have you experienced strangely unusually vivid and surreal dreams in the days after the AstraZeneca vaccine?

I may have had the dreams, or at least I maybe just remembered them after waking - where as I don't normally. Those dream I awoke with, I tried to make a point of trying to remember, but despite my best attempts to store them, they still slipped away. Weird that! One I did manage to remember was me with my gorgeous Italian girlfriend wondering round Milan and we were outside La Scala. Oddly, I never visited Milan with her at all - I was taken on a trip there by some Italian workmates. Shh - don't tell SWMBO :)

Vivid, as in it took me a while on waking, to discount them as just dreams.

Thanks Harry - this is exactly the type of dreams that I was referring to
