Why.......

We may pay over the odds for some of our (private butcher) meat, but I'd rather do that than have say a scraggy beef joint or dodgy sausage. We enjoyed some slow roasted belly pork last night. Delish. :)

Watched the Great British menu, or whatever it is called last night. They weren't half tarting around with edible flowers and other such faffage. It reminded me of my Saturday night dinner.

Beans on toast.

When I say expensive, I mean ridiculously so. My Mum said she couldn't find a joint of lamb for under 45 quid at the butchers.....?

I went to Aldi yesterday and they had no lamb joints at all. A few miserable looking chops and some unsavoury looking mince, but that was all.

Wow - we got a leg from sainsbury for £18 , mind you i thought i was getting a half leg £12, tick the wrong box on the order
And our butches a couple of years ago was about £19/24 ish
typical supply and demand , we had the same issue with a local butcher in our old house for turkey crowns , stupid prices , stopped going

Since shielding not been going to Lidl, but that was our normal place for shopping

Sadly economies of scale mean butchers, greengrocers etc can't compete with the big supermarkets.

Meat will continue to get more expensive to appease the green lobby as they all want us to survive on veggie burgers.

Wonder if the farmers see the benefit of the increased price. I was left a bit of land outside Bristol that I rent out 7 months a year for grass keep for a local farmer to graze his sheep on. Think there will be a rent increase coming.

£40 M & S , £22 Tesco yesterday. Not sure how much a farmer gets for a full sheep but it was not that high not so long ago.
