I can say this now without any fear of retribution, but if you bought your first PC from PC World in the 90's & it was a Packard Bell with an internal modem, then you had a built in 'back door' that gave a few fledgling hackers a glimpse into your private little world.
When we smashed their little syndicate apart we discovered some very interesting things about some very important people. They'd been collecting VAST amounts of info, but they'd pulled out a lot of info from users that they'd recognised the names of . . . . This is a bigger story than the tabloids phone hacking scandal, yet strangely it gets no coverage at all . . . . .
