I've got a Worcester heatslave 15/19 oil fired boiler that currently won't get past start up.
The boiler is 18 years old and has danfoss white square control box, bentone burner, danfoss oil pump.

The sequence is:

From lockout press to reset.
Fan starts
Burner starts and runs for apx 10 seconds then locks out again.
This is consistent.

So far to try and isolate the problem I have checked oil flow & cleanliness of oil.
Torch tested photocell
Checked brightness of flame through cell hole.

It's not going over temp or anything like that.

I think it's either control box or photocell so am planning to replace the control box, back plate & cell with a matched danfoss set.

Does this sound good?

Sounds like a good start. I'd hold off with the control box though fit that after the photocell.

What happens when you shine a torch in the photocell

No difference with torch, still only start cycle then lockout.

Did you keep pc in the dark until it ignited.

Not dark just dim. But this test was prior to observing the quality of the flame through the cell hole.

So during start sequence, with cell in place, there is a nice bright yellow and steady flame for the cell to see.

I also cleaned the lens with damp kitchen roll.

If the cell sees light during the pre purge (Before solenoid oil release) it will lock out after ignition.
With torch test grip FZ in your fist until solenoid opens and shine torch onto it after ign.

Yes realised that afterwards. But since then decided that if the cell or control box was ok it would run after sequence because flame is good and bright (once reassembled)

IF THE CELL SEES LIGHT DURING PRE PURGE, IT WILL LOCK OUT, REGARDLESS OF THE FLAME QUALITY.

10 MΩ in Dark
10 KΩ in Light
Not exact but very high and very low!

If you feel adventurous ........About 60ua current flow.

If the cell sees light during prepurge, surely it won't light as the solenoid is not opened. What is the number on the White square Danfoss control box? Is it a BHO11 or 12 , 57H1, or a BHO61?
I can't recall ever seeing anything other than Satronic boxes on Heatslaves, and if someone has substituted along the way, this may be a mismatched cell and box.
