My guess is a bit like you have to somehow learn to become comfortable with these types of concepts in order to build these mathematical/physics based theories and ideas - I think Eddie this is one of the attractions I personally have to the idea of going off somewhere where you can do really nice start gazing - I think these concepts would appear even more interesting in that context as a sort of visual aid

Stargazing and astrophysics or cosmology is indeed fascinating, it can be easy to feel how insignificant and futile you are though, so it's best to look down sometimes!

I remember reading about that and you've now just reminded me. I've watched a few youtube videos with a very well known Professor of linguistics - Professor Noam Chomskey - a very clever man and I'm sure you've heard of him

The more you watch, the more you realise this relatively small group of people can't actually decide on a defined flat earth model. They assert all sort of weird and wonderful things. One being the earth's water is contained on the flat disc by the artic, which circles the perimeter of the earth and is guarded by some sort of special armed forces that prevent anyone getting close to investigate.
It's apparent (flat earthers themselves admit this) many pertaining to be flat earthers are simply doing it for a sort of laugh e.g. to get social media exposure. This angers those that genuinely believe we're being lied to about all this.
As said, people cannot imagine nothing - as in not just empty but nothing.
To try and answer this problem, some people have even stated that it rhymes with orange.

I am acquainted with a flat earth believer who lives in Oregon. He believes that the sun rises at the same time across the whole world and that time zones do not exist.. Phone calls from him can be in the early hours of the morning. He works from home as a translator for a book publishing company and it seems he is very good at what he does.

That really does beg the question Bernard - how does he explain your different time zone when he phones you? The only logical and plausible explanation he could come to is that you're being untruthful?
