How to replace this toilet seat

Sorry if this isn't the right section, please feel free to move this thread.

I am looking for help on how to remove this toilet seat. The toilet is fully enclosed and I can't find any sort of buttons etc on the seat itself. I've tried to prise it off, but using as much force as I dared, I can't get it to budge.

Any help appreciated.

Someone may have done the dirty on you and used a bottom fixing seat, other than a top fixing seat which it should have, sadly not unusual.
If no one else knows the secret of that seat it may well mean taking the pan out, you can try cutting the silicone and see if you can take out the top screws on the panel it might lift up then.

Thanks. I have lived here 2 years and it's the same seat. Given many many other bodges in this house, I would be genuinely surprised if it had been done correctly! For example, the bathroom is very new - probably 18 months before I moved in, and yet there is no extractor fan!

I might take my Dremel to it and see if I can hack the fittings enough so they drop down inside, I'd then be able to use a top fixing set wouldn't I??

Looking at the wood between the cistern and bowl, it looks like it has 4 screws at the top which I can get to, and then magnet door catches at the base, the cut out for the in/out pipe to the bowl looks like a U shape (rather than a hole). Removing the silicone and lifting the wood out vertically may be an option I think.

If you lift up the lid is there any little grey clip under the hinge in the centre?

Nope nothing.

I took my multi tool to it today. Just slid it under the seat where you'd expect the bolts to be. Luckily they were just plastic bolts and cut through them in a few seconds, obviously dropped down inside but the seat is off and I can now replace it.

Not sure why I hadn't thought do doing this originally months ago when it needed replacing!
