Just brought a Opel Mokka 1.4t petrol 2018 47000km (28000 miles) between 40 to 60 km (30 and 45 MPH) i have a slight whine coming from transmission,if i take out of gear or clucth down i still have it but not so bad.
You can only here from the drivers side(left) and not as a passenger. I have taken it to two gargaes one a Opel dealer and they can n not here it.
I was in the motor trade for years ,years back and i pick up on it every time i drive it.
Qustion is does any body have experiance with the Mokka and is this just a normal tranmission noise . Is it just me
(Spainish car just moved out here )

Thank you Kevin

Does the note change when say, you coast downhill and swerve a little (wheel bearing noise?)
You aren't using Maxxis tyres on the front, by any chance?
John :)

Morning John
No Maxxis tyres on car . Not many hills around here . You hear it more on light throttle driving from 40km up to 60km if you drive it with a bit more throttle not so loud ? Nosie does change if load put on wheels ie going round a corner but not that much to think w/bearing
l am out in it today i try some more experiments with it .
Like i said was in motor trade for years thats why i picked up on it .Srtrang over gargaes have not picked up on it.
Cheers John

The car is a bit on the young side for either wheel bearings or transmission issues, but you never know.....
I guess all transmissions are made to a tolerance gear clearance wise which, if yours is on the loose side would cause some whine.....I'd expect the noise to be largely from the diff but these are well engineered with large bearings.
All you can do is to monitor the situation and see if the noise changes, check for oil leaks and level and replenish if necessary.
I've been led up the garden path before regarding tyre noise, Maxxis being the main offenders so I don't use them now - maybe some other brands do the same.
