then the ceiling was skimmed with plaster only where the chimney was removed not whole ceiling, I have painted the ceiling and coving with brilliant white emulsion dulux but it doesn’t seem to match up with the existing white colour already on the ceiling which seems even more whiter and chalky, does anybody know what paint could have been used? Any advice would be great thank you

Trying to cut in or match rarely works, how many coats has the new section had.
Need to do entire ceiling, looks like it’s been painted too soon with damp plaster in view.Are you doing mist coat first?
