Surely this is wrong.......

We just found this in one of the cupboards where the new lights were fitted........... WTF?

Just as well I hadn’t already sent a ‘Thank you’ message to the property agents. Guess what the topic’s going to be now!

Do you have a wider up to date photo of this as it is now

Here you are. Still looks a bit amateur.

Perhaps my earlier post describing it as a “safe job” was mis-guided. As I said in my OP, I’m not an electrician.........

Not clear enough really, you cannot tell where the wires go and if to the 2 Blue Transformers, are they still there.

That silver Robus label likely has printed on it, that it needs earthing, that goes down to the light, in a fault that light could become live, and also the screws now in your cupboard!

Single insulated Brown or Blue like that is not acceptable and if its the supply coming out the hole then that included the green earth that should join to the green wire that was cut off in your old picture of the black cable with the silver Robus label on, that appears to then drop down to the mains light.

No Greens appear to be seen, all that tape is a bodge, all the joins should be in an enclosure or behind that cover.

Oh dear god what an absolute mess, I don’t know how people who do this standard of work in other people’s homes can sleep at night. Sorry to say it all needs ripping out and starting again, this time by an actual electrician who’s capable of doing the job properly! One must exist in your area o_O

I think you are wrong :)
Aptsys even highlighted it in bold in the quote what he was refering to

" those connections can’t be left exposed on the top of the cabinet either."

Damnit - you're right (and I am, indeed, wrong) :)

I didn't notice (or, at least, 'take in') the highlighting, and hence thought it was a response to the last bit of what he had quoted. Had I been writing it, I would probably have split the quote so that I could put my response immediately after the comment it related to - and hence so that unobservant people (like me!) could not misunderstand!

Kind Regards, John

Still no earth and the line/neutral wires in your photo are only single insulated. When you said it was a proper and safe looking job I would completely disagree.

The transformers are away. The lights are mains powered. On closer inspection, these new light fittings appear to be plastic. The Robus light is also away.

I may well be wrong here, but I reckon the clown who did this (to avoid running the wire from the light that replaced the Robus unit) has just used the cable from that Robus lamp.

I’ll take a closer look at the weekend - don’t worry, I won’t be doing any disconnecting or tampering - and get a better picture, including the Robus label.

Thanks 333rocky333.
