engineered wood direction in L shape

a colleague has ordered a load of engineered wood to replace her carpet in an L shaped hall/lobby of a flat.
The hall L is such that the longer run leads from slightly to the left of the front door along towards the living area. The shorter part to the bathroom (the base of the L)
The only daylight would come roughly from a bedroom door around the corner of the L

I am assuming that running the planks parallel to the walls of the longer part of the hallway is the best way? Then the shorter planks run across the width of the run to the bathroom?

I guess one other option is diagonal but she's already ordered and there might not be enough?
If there is would that be hard? easier?

Firstly she should check that her lease permits her to have a wooden floor as many don’t.

if all good I would lay it 90 degrees to the longest run to give the illusion of widening the room. Otherwise there is a risk of creating a bowling alley feel
