My niece has recently had replacement double garage doors fitted.
This included a preservative wood stain on both doors.
As the floor was subject to minor flooding a timber strip was fitted to the concrete floor, which the two doors butt up to when closed. (about 2" x 1" x 10 feet)
Her problem is that this strip was left unpainted and she thinks it should be finished with the
same door paint.
I am not so sure ??

If she knows what stain was used she could remove the threshold and give several coats on ALL surfaces, re-fit it and then coat over the fixings.

The wood strip, subjected to a regular soaking will quite quickly rot away. Instead I would be looking for something rot proof to replace it, like a UPVC strip, fixed to the concrete with stainless steel screws plus a sealant. You can source various UPVC strip profiles from double glazing supply companies like Eurocell quite cheaply.
