I've never done much in woodworking but don't mind giving it a go.

I would like to build a desk (might be wall mountable) but I don't know what kind of wood I might need?

I think ply wood and then get some iron on material to give it a bit more of a posh look?

Could anyone give me some advise on this or any tutorials I could read up on.

In addition of anyone has any advice of how I could go about creating a drawer for the desk that would be great but it seems tricky to get this right so again any advise or guide on this would be awesome.

Thanks

Ply looks posh to me. But you may want to consider MDF if you are veneering.

But you really need to be clearer on what you want to do and what you want it to look like.

For advice about making a drawer, I would suggest google and youtube as that's more than a few lines of text. You may be better off buying a drawer pack and slapping a front on it to match your design

Used an Offcut of oak block board for mine and made riser for monitor from same material .

Alternatively get some photos of desks. Pick out the design features you like. Do some preliminary sketches if what you'd like to have. Post them here and see what others make of them

I think if you're new to this then start with a pre-made bit for the surface, eg a kitchen worktop, and focus your burgeoning woodworking skills on the rest of it.

Thanks guys.... I'm going through a few videos and purchased a circular saw and getting some other stuff to help make this a little easier.

I've searched and read up on veneering and the types of wood but this is the look I'm after

I don't know if it's possible with this veneering iron on material as I've not found anything close to that colour?

Finally I watched a few videos on creating sliding drawers...... Could anyone give me some ideas/guidance on how I should go about measuring to have the correct height for each drawer so the space is consistent? Or any links I could read up on.

Thanks
