Taking a homeowner to court

I think your neighbours extension requires more ventilation.

If you were really kind you could help by drilling some holes through the felt roof.

I contacted the council's enforcement team about asking the homeowner to apply for building permission for the new outbuilding and also asked why they have two chimneys and why have they not applied for planning permission for either.

I had a response that the homeowner will reduce the height of the second chimney and will apply for planning permission on the future.

WTF????
 
What do all your neighbours think of this nuisance, and what steps have they taken?

Applying for retroactive planning permission is a standard step as I understand it. If it is refused then the building has to be taken down.

We don't know each other. There has been a lot of house sales in the neighbourhood recently. My next door who has been around as long as us agrees with me.
 
I'm thinking that if the stuff that has been going on is as loud as you say it is, there must have been others who made complaints, thus adding more grist to your mill.
 
Are you in a "vibrant, mutlicultural" area? If you are, you have no recourse to the law, it's you that's in the wrong.

The noise has died down considerably. So, I am not bothered by the noise anymore. My compliant is with having two chimneys and the council's incompetent enforcement team doing nothing.
