A Quill?
A laser printer B&W or coloured, even better if you have space for one - an ex-office printer. They often give them away, when they do an office upgrade, often with near full cartridges and they are much cheaper per page than an ink jet. Laser printers can sit for months unused, no jets to block, they just keep going.

Another Cannon, full set of ink carts for £10.
I have the HP Envy 5000 with rented ink from HP, for £3.99 per month. Suits family of 4 ok.

I remember the 1st laser printer we had at work. It cost £4,000 or was it £7,000? Whatever, it was a lot of monies.
Ancient HP4000n here. Given it free for collection around ten years ago, a couple of years ago the cart ran out and it cost me £20 for a replacement 20k pages. The 'n' means network, I have it on my network, in the small bedroom, powered by a Smart Plug, along with 2x networked colour lasers. I can turn it on and off via my phone, when I need to print and can print from anywhere around the place.
Good point that it doesn't have to go on your desk, especially if you have wireless, or a long piece of wire.
They usually have a big paper drawer which makes them taller.
some are very small. you don't have to buy an all-in-one.
though I might get one if my Oki ever wears out.

The biggest cause of inkjet problems is non-OEM cartridges. We use HP Instant Ink and get 100 pages for £3.49 a month, that could be 100 photos if you want. They always send new cartridges before they run out and we banged it up to 300 pages a month during home schooling for under £10 a month. The all in one printer is just short of 3 years old now with no blockages or issues at all. The cartridges seem to last well too, I think they have a higher capacity than retail bought ones........
