I'm trying to find out when our 2009-registered FR-V was built.

A rough date would be fine.

I know roughly when my Octavia was born as it was built to order, but I also got a good idea from parts of it that were dated.

I can't find any dated parts on the FR-V, so do you have any ideas?

DVLA will tell you the month it was first registered so at least you would have a no later than month. The VIN only gives the year. Think you might struggle to get much more accurate unless you know of a part change or other modification that occurred in your year of manufacture and can determine it from that. I would be hesitant in relying on any dates written on bits of trim etc.

The VIN number will tell you to the minute when the car rolled off the production line. Trouble is you need someone who has access to the manufacturers internal systems. Why do you need to know?

Just pure idle curiosity!

I think the car may have been stored for a while before being sold and I wondered for how long.

I've used some VIN decoder websites and they give me everything except the date of manufacture!

Look in the boot, spare wheel well. I had a sticker with all the options identified and date the sticker was printed.

Shame (or not) it wasn't a Ford, could have helped you out with that.

The difference twixt manufacture and registration can be (many) months.

Japanese cars usually have the date of manufacture on tags sewn into the bottom of the seat belts.

Tiger, good shout, but ashtray had nothing on it in the way of date code.

Eddie and gaz: dealer told me to do one. They would want a visit in person with a V5 before entertaining that idea, plus "a good reason to want the information".

Talk about over-zealous.....

Salty, nothing in the wheel well, although I know what you mean: my Octavia had a label in the boot.

Lower: BINGO!

Thanks everybody!

I found this on a sun visor, but don't know whether it is a date code: could it be the 23rd week of 2007?

That just tells you when the seat belt was manufactured not when the car rolled off the production line.
I know, but I have a theory that the parts won't be hanging around. I reckon Honda would order them "Just In Time" so it must be close to the assembly date.

If I can find more dates on the car's parts, it will give a better idea.

All the seatbelts had the same date.

Sorry, but those dates don't tell you when the completed vehicle rolled off the line.
