Salute to a true Patriot James Dyson

Smaller countries? It doesn’t leave many. Lol.
Only Germany had a larger population than us!
They can have a smaller population and still be comparable, but the population has to be big enough to be statistically significent. So San Marino isn't, and the clue is in the shape of the curve on the cumulative. Belgium on the other hand has a population of about 10million I think, so should just about be comparable, and we see a fairly smoothe curve on their numbers.

so- why are Dyson's engineers in Singapore?
Why do they physically need to be in the Uk to design a machine?
Do they need to be in the Uk to design a vacuum cleaner?
Have they heard of remote working?
A decent technology company can work on complex CAD to the extent of designing in Singapore and CNC/3D printing in the UK.

7 day averages are incredibly important to look at current trends. I’m sure if we were in France’s position you’d think it was important, but going by your method France are in a better position than us....... see what i mean?

Of course 7 day averages are important to look at as a trend.

But to claim the UK is doing better than Europe, is misleading.

I am pleased the UK is doing well on vaccine rollout, but we need Europe and the rest of the world to catch up fast, because until they do, the UK will still have lots of restrictions and risk of variants landing.

without vaccines from the EU, the UKs rollout would be miles behind
something brexiters refuse to acknowledge

It wasnt some of the doses, it was around 20 million -without those the UK programme would be miles behind

how about we compare the number of vaccines the EU has exported compared to the USA

the EU could have allowed each EU nation to buy its own and play vaccine nationalism, or it could have thrown huge money at manufacturers and prevent any vaccine being exported

I just think those who love to say "the EU is doing rubbish on its vaccine rollout" could be grateful to them instead

Nothing to do with the EU. Merely a contractual obligation from a facility based in the EU. Which incidentally wouldn't have been able to manufacture anything without key components from the UK.

Dyson takes years to design a product and develops the tooling in slow time, so can be done in Singapore.
An urgent need to manufacture ventilators was identified and tooling may have already existed in the UK, hence the need for Dyson engineers to come here.

Doug. Hate to give you bad news.(honestly)
Turkey’s having a shocker currently.

Funnily enough I wanted to try & get to Letoonia (near Fethiye)again this year.

Yes it is you've just pointed it out: "from a facility based in the EU"

without the EU the UK would not have vaccinated as many people as it has.
The EU could've allowed nation states to do their own thing -and if that had have happened, the rich nation states like Germany and France wouldve paid top dollar for home produced vaccines

you do realise the EU as far more vaccine manufacturing capability than the UK -in fact the EU is one of biggest regions of vaccine manufacture in the world.

Pharmaceutical companies are based in the EU because it is highly technologically advanced.....so your simplistic argument that its "companies in the EU" not the EU itself rather misses the point -those companies are based in the EU because it is the EU.

The same EU that hadn’t approved the vaccines, hadn’t preordered in time & then said they wouldn’t be sharing with anyone.

The same EU that is now taking Astra Zenneca to court despite having trashed the vaccine's reputation across the EU, is preventing AZ from exporting any vaccine, and is not planning to buy any more of this vaccine in the future...
