Room Thermostat Upgrade Woes

My best guess is that the new thermostat is faulty. I’ll be able to check this on Monday - I’ll take it home and see if it works in my place.
I thought you’d established that the boiler switch wasn’t calling for heat, so it would make either thermostat appear faulty.

true - but after I switched the timer to “on”, I tried the new thermostat again and it still wouldn’t switch on (sorry, I may have omitted to mention that).

So I manage to refit the old thermostat and after I made sure the separate timer was set to on, everything now works fine - so no harm done.

I guess either the wiring is somehow different to my place (I just assumed that red/blue/yellow/earth would behave the same everywhere, but perhaps not?), or the new thermostat is faulty. Suspect the latter, but will test it when I get home later today.

Looking at the data sheet it seems you don't have anything connected to one side of the load. I would expect the see a link between terminals N1 and N to complete the circuit.

The N1 will be connected to the Valve and/or Boiler wherever they are.

The supply does not run through the thermostat.

ok...so...the suspect thermostat actually works fine at my place. Powers up straight away, does what it says on the tin. So I guess there must be something "funny" (not sure what I mean by that) about the wiring at my gf's flat - or at least it must be different somehow to mine. Any suggestions?

Her old thermostat sometimes doesn't work properly (temperature control goes funny) so if I can't get this one to work, I could just buy a replacement for the one she has already. Looks a bit old skool but should at least work!
