herd immunity for EU 446m population likely to be reached by mid July

I agree there have been silly mistakes such as Macron's AZ slip up which was hastily corrected. But the AZ blood clot situation has been well covered here in France. It's only belatedly been addressed in UK after they denied it was an issue.

There has been a number of negatives concerning the AZ vaccine not just blood clots. The effectiveness S Africa came up with for instance, trial stopped. Some doubt cast on the age demographics of people used in the trials. Personally I also wonder about the demographics concerning which vaccine is used where and how they decide. That seems to have extended recently where some will now only get the Pfizer vaccine.

70% is the minimum target most if not all experts agree on,and is also a EU target, maybe your'e the confused one thinking having a stockpile of vaccines will scare the virus away.
I know you think your "stoockpile of vaccines will scare the vaccine away" is awfully clever....but France and Germany are now up to rates of 400k -600k a day

we don't know what percentage of people need to be vaccinated to achieve herd immunity. Estimates range from 50% to 80%

naturally acquired immunity by having had covid counts towards herd immunity, perhaps you didnt know

It seems China is doing ~4m a day but have a rather large job to do so are being reported as having achieved low rates. Depends where you look too.

I've read that the EU have approved the single dose jab - not sure it's reliable news.

France 7 day average 366,000 Germany 500,000 the 70% figure wasn't plucked from the air, it's a EU target, and some EU countries won't reach that till next year. You have been saying for Months now that the EU will catch up on UK,still waiting,UK done 700,000 yesterday, including more than 500,000 second doses.

You're doing what Dangee likes to do, plucking some selective data to support your comment.
UK's daily average (for both doses) over the last 7 days is 500,00, not 700,000.

It's highly probable that weekend days will achieve more.

Did i quote 700,000 uk average, No, i said UK done 700,000 yesterday,do you understand now.(y)
You should have used the figures for March 14th, they would have supported your comment better.
You provided specific day data for UK, but used 7 day average for France and Germany.
Just like Dangee, who asked for examples of price rises since Brexit, then dismissed all the examples provided because they didn't fit his continually modified criteria.
It's called selective quoting of data.

You haven't quoted like for like: 7 day averages for France and Germany but UK a single day
Latest 7 day average for UK 1st vaccine is 116k (Bobby posted same details at whilst I was posting)

It is clear vaccination rates are ramping up in European countries

I said the EU will catch up by summer......not April.
I also said whilst UK had ahead start, it will be short lived.
And the UK still has one of the highest death rates in Europe

I am sure you are most grateful that our vaccination roll out has only been possible by the 20 million doses of vaccine coming from EU

And I am sure are pleased that EU countries are now ramping up vaccinations which will help to reverse the 3rd wave caused mostly by the UK variant.

I have to say whilst I am very pleased the UK has done well on its early vaccination rollout, I'm not impressed by brexers on here playing a vaccine one upmanship against the EU, especially given that our fast rollout was only achieved by vaccines being allowed to be exported from the EU.

The UK is now in a good position and I hope the EU catch up quickly and starts to slow the nasty 3rd wave they are experiencing.

Not counting the 400,000 daily second doses then.

Nothing of the sort,it was your stupid comment that the EU would achieve herd immunity by mid July (10 weeks away) to do so they would have to triple current rates at least, and on Brexit unlike you i voted remain.

I never said EU would achieve herd immunity by mid July

I said they would catch up by mid July because I could see vaccine production would ramp up in the EU, which it is.

The vaccine rates and the statements from healthcare leaders in EU concur with what I said.....so what I said was far from stupid.
