My my floor upstairs has a few squeaky floorboards . I'm going to add a few screws at some point but I'm worried I hit a wire or pipe .
My question is can a squeaky floorboard cause damage to the ceiling below ?
Thanks

Short answer is no.

What type of flooring is "Squeaking?" is it chipboard or individual T&G boards?

One old fashioned remedy was to use French Chalk as a powder sprinkled liberally on to the joints, sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.

It's individual t&g floorboards that are squeaky . I had my boiler moved a few years back and I'm guessing the plumber didn't replace the boards as well as he could of !
