So moved into a house about 60 years old and the separate upstairs toilet has a normal wall light switch should this be changed to a ceiling cord pull one? Like what is in bathrooms?

No need.

Unless the room has a fixed bath or shower, you do not need to consider a pull cord unless you really want one!

Even then, you may not need one, depending on where the switch is in relation to the bath or shower.
