Cap over wood fascia advice please

Hi all, have reasonably successfully capped over wood fascia at back of house and now looking to do front. Photo s you see are front of two storey house.
Am I ok just to cap over or best first wood preservative and treat what looks bit worn maybe even rot?. Would I just be harbouring future issue by capping??
Finally flashing into brickwork looks bit like coming unstuck and gaps appearing, should I be concerned?

Looks a bit aged/worn to me. Nothing more sinister. Get it capped and it'll soon dry out as long as the felt and tile above are in good order.

The pointing has been affected by the ex/con of the lead. Looks like the individual lengths are a wee bit over in terms of regulation. Chop out and repoint with leadmate.

Got first length up yesterday, reasonably happy with it though rhs always issue as I can't pass under downpipe, too close and at that height not going to play about with gutters....

Too be honest, that looks like a botch - sorry, where you have notched out for the gutter brackets. I would have taken the gutter and brackets down, fixed the fascia, then reinstalled the gutter.

Do it properly.
Take the lot down and install upvc fascia and soffit.
A lot easier than cut notches and a much better finish which will last a lifetime.

I thought that may attract some comments ). I'm surprised no one has come up with over capping sliding fascia with V notching for gutter brackets. Far from my best DIY attempt but hopefully see me out .

How could they? They brackets are spaced out at what ever spacing an individual decides to place them.
