Often when I try to search for something on Google the results I need are swamped by irrelevant stuff. This is partly because I'm from UK and the internet is largely USA populated. Is there a way to exclude certain results using keywords? For example, today I was trying to look up a song, probably from the '70s about a big red GTO. I could not find it because the results were swamped by a later song (which I had never heard) by Sinitta. This includes the same words "big red GTO" but is a different song.

in the search type -gto or use the advanced search capabilities.

Thanks, I tried "big red GTO " -Sinitta -he's -got. It did exclude the song I didn't want but failed to find the song I did want. I thought there was an advanced search facility but Google does not routinely offer it as an option.

It is perfectly true that Google is swamped by things from America.
I routinely click 'Tools' (on the right), then click 'Any country' (on the left) and select 'UK'.
I only wish there were some way to leave that setting on permanently!
