Fused spur worth it?

Anyway ….I would be interested in knowing what intruder
alarm siren requires 24v ? Lol

I think you might find 1 is for a fire alarm which is normal ….and 2 is NOT a siren ….keep going …

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately it’s a plug in adapter.
Which is why my initial thought was FCU and socket.
But just the socket seems the way to go.

Hi, your thinking was exactly the same as mine. Hoping a smaller than 6A fuse would trip before the actual 6A in the MCB.
The fact that you’ve tried it and it didn’t work has 100% negated my theory, thank you.

I can’t see why there would be an overload from the socket in the loft. It’s only ever me that goes up there and I don’t do much hoovering up there

It’s not the alarm that requires the 24v it’s the external siren.
i have the Ring alarm and it’s superb.
The siren is 24v

Just to clarify, the siren will work on any power supply from 9-28V, 12W, DC.

It’s manufactured by Ring (the doorbell and camera people) and is very good.

It’s designed to be powered by one of their doorbell power adapters which is 24V. It’s a plug in adapter

I COULD also hardwire it directly in to the mains with a converter but the socket and power adapter seems the easiest way to go.
