Hi.

Am I right in thinking that the thermostat in the photos should control the temperate of the hot water? Because it doesn't seem to make any difference what ever it is set to. The water is very hot all the time.

Thanks

Have you got the immersion heater switched on?

That thermostat controls the temp of the water if the water is heated by the boiler. There is a separate stat in the immersion heater if you're heating the water with electricity.

Pretty sure the boiler is heating the water. I'd have to checking the immersion is on. It's my parents house.

check boiler flow temperature. reduce it to 65 degrees. will take longer to heat the hot water but it won't be as hot.

Is that the immersion heater switch on the left hand side of the second picture? Looks to be on to me but the focus isn't good enough to read the writing on it.

If the immersion is off, I'd be looking to see if the hot water motorised valve is closing when the stat is satisfied.

yes looks like immersion is switched on, should only be used if the gas system fails , it is there as a backup, shouldnt be on all the time

I think in reality that thermostat just controls the depth of the hot water, the temperature at the top of the tank will always be close to the boiler temperature.

But do agree with others, it does look like the immersion is switched on.
