Hi.

I have a Veritas 8 alarm which after today is causing a hit of an issue. We’ve had a smart meter fitted today and during fitting they turned the power off.

when turning it back on the alarm hasn’t been the same since. The smart meter company are no help, so wonder if anyone has any suggestions as to what could be the problem.

I am able to set the alarm by the keypad without issue, but when I come to unset it the alarm just beeps and the power and unset lights flash.

Does anyone have any idea what could be the issue please? I’ve popped a picture of the alarm with the cover off on the post.

Thanks is advance

Dougie

When was the battery in the alarm panel last replaced? I'm guessing it's at the end of it's life (they usually last about 5 years). With the power off the alarm is powered that battery. The battery might charge again now that the mains power has been restored but if it's old it will need replacing.

Looks like battery could be faulty.
The picture shows it could have been leaking.
A faulty battery ,that causes a problem with the alarm system after a meter change is not the responsibility of the meter company.
If the system is serviced regularly then this problem would not have happened. Very common problem following meter changes.
Flashing power light indicates that no power to control panel, but this could also due to a battery issue.

Brill, thanks for your response. Is it all pointing towards changing the battery then or is there a fuse I should be checking before I get the battery off?

Battery is simple to change. Just disconnect spade connectors and reconnect to new battery.
Replace with a 12 volt 2.8/3.2ah battery.
Check the spade connectors for corrosion.
Screwfix stock batteries

Perfect.. Thankyou! Would you aim straight for the battery or is there a fuse that I should be checking first?
