Hi guys, my Bosch oven / grill has decided to trip the electrics RCD. The control panel displays when powered. However when its set to heat it trips. Would this indicate that it requires a new heating element? Are there any tests that I could perform to try and trouble shoot?

Any thoughts would be helpful so that I do not die of starvation.

Thanks ;)

Very likely it's a failed element.
Testing is possible, but obviously does need some testing equipment. All tests done with the oven completely disconnected from the supply.

Ideally an insulation resistance tester between the element terminals and the outer casing.
If not, then a multimeter set to resistance between the element terminals and the casing may show a fault, but some elements only show as faulty once they have been on for a few seconds/minutes, so that may not be conclusive.

Another option would be to disconnect the wires from the element, insulate the wires removed from it and see if it trips then - if not, new element required, if it still trips, then it's some other problem.

Perfect thanks very much for the help mate. Greatly appreciated. ;)
