Hi,
I have an outdoor garden socket already installed on an external wall.
I wish to run an extension cable from this socket to a gazebo area about 20m away.
I was planning on connecting to the existing socket using a 13A plug. Then at the gazebo end, having another outdoor socket that can be connected to.
My thoughts are that I need a 13A cable with some type of armour.
Any recommendations?

Might be better off moving this thread to the electrical section. Is this going to be temporary or permanent?
Where are you going to run the cable, underground, on the surface, clipped along a fence, overhead?

I did but got no replies, so posted here.
It's intended to be permanent and will run under some paving slaps and under some soil.

Buried then yes you should use armoured cable. Don't think it's possible to properly connect an armoured cable to a 13amp plug. As I understand it, the armour needs to be earthed, incase the cable is cut in to. Might be best getting an electrician to do it, even if you do the digging and lay the cable for him.

You would need to use armoured cable for the main run underground but terminate it in a junction box then use round cable from the box to fit a 13A plug on to then plug into your existing outdoor socket. You can terminate it at the new outdoor socket on that end but you must use the proper glands.
