Need to replace front tyres on wife’s car
Car is shod with Yokohama BluEarth E51B tyres.
Is it better to go with same or something else.
Rear tyres are not getting replaced as yet

TIA

Dan

If you are happy with the wear and noise of the Yokohamas then I'd stick with them......Hankook are also doing well at the moment and are certainly better than they used to be, wear wise.
I reckon 20 t0 25k miles on these is fine.
John :)

Thank you John
The car has done 30k
Front tyres need replacing, rear still have meat on them. Was thinking of replacing front, rear later
Is Bridgestone tyre any good?
Was thinking of Michelin all weather, unsure as do not know anything about tyres

If its any use, I got a couple of Maxxis AP2 of this seller.

Spent a leisurely Saturday afternoon fitting them myself then along to the local tyre centre for a balance.

If your happy with them then go for the same, Yokohama have always had a good reputation.
Any of the big names will be fine though in reality, Michelin seem to be slightly ahead of everyone else in my experience but they do wear quite quickly.

I think any of the 'popular' makes of tyre will be suitable for the Lexus....less so the real budget items which are best avoided on a prestige vehicle.
Personally I've found Bridgestone excellent, albeit rarely on offer for the smaller sizes, and Maxxis, although hard wearing proved noisy for me - although I don't recall which model of Maxxis they were.
Although I like to see Michelins on a new vehicle, I have been surprised at their wear rate and side wall deterioration at times.
The all season variant is proving effective in snow, but they are very expensive....I use them on my FWD vehicles now.

Have to agree with the wear issue of Mitchelins, mine were fitted from new & had to replace all 4 after 10K miles.Went for mid range replacements which have since done 20K & still have plenty of tread left. Noticed a slight increase in road noise when they were new but no other difference in performance. I would not pay the extra for Mitchelins again.

Strange.... had Dunlop SP tyres on a car that were forever needing replaced until I changed to Mitchelins. Then again I have no experience of other brands. The Yokohama tyres at the front have clicked 30k, rear still ok.

We tend to get All Season/winter tyres fitted and leave them on all year for the better grip.

Got a couple of Riken Snow on a Bora back in January and seem perfectly fine. Riken are made in a factory owned by Michelin apparently.

Try https://www.camskill.co.uk/
Found them the cheapest for my 255/45R20 Pirelli, fitting for £15 per tyre at my local tyre shop.
Tip: search on one device, order on a different one, as the price goes up when you go back on the same device.

It must be hard work, this tyre selection business. I go to my local part-worn place, he asks me if I want the OK ones for £20 each, the good ones for £25 or new budget ones for £40.

Thanks every one for your thoughts and advice.

The car has clocked 32k. Front tyres are on the limit and rear I suppose good for a while.

Yokohama’s I can get for £117.50.
Michelin all weather for same price at Costco if I buy four
Car will be 5 years old in September.

Did some reading, it appears summer tyres go hard when exposed to freezing temperature. I wonder if cracks on date stamp is due to hardened rubber, all weather tyres are not effected similarly but stopping distance is increased

Decisions, decisions, do I go for Yokohama or Michelin

That's a great price for the all weather Michelins, but if you only want a standard tyre I'd try the Yokohamas.
'Er indoors Honda HRV 1.6 diesel has Michelins all round but the fronts are nearly shot at 16k. I'm not that bothered but I'd prefer around 22k for value.
John :)

Will go with Yokohama in that case.
