Full Rewire help

I'm in Liverpool , he said he doesn't do the rewires his brother does. And told me they can do it all in 1 day. I'm living in the house and have nowhere to go so they told me to go out for the day and it will be done. My gut feeling is telling me to **** it off but I've been asking electricians to come out they don't get back in touch

I can imagine the sort of job they would do it a day, find someone properly qualified and save yourself a world of grief.

At least, having seen the consumer unit photo, you have got some decent value for your £400. I must admit I was rather expecting it the be a very basic single lighting circuit, one socket circuit.

It's a shame he didn't put the RCD's in the right place though.

Hi thanx . I get that I may need a rewire at some point as the house is 1972
IMO you probablly don't. Old rubber wiring did degrade over time, but my understanding is that by the 1970s we had moved on to PVC insulation that usually lasts a very long time (there are some exceptions).

Hi thanx . I get that I may need a rewire at some point as the house is 1972 and never had one. I got the fella from my builder as he had decent reviews. I've been left with 3 sockets hanging out and no lights for the past week or so , I've just had to use lamps.
Much of mine is still from the 60's

Steer clear of this idiot and his brother.

The fault you have described should be easy for an experienced electrician to find.

This fault does not justify an entire rewire.

And I suspect a one day rewire by these prats will result in your home being destroyed.

You need an experienced, competent electrician to locate and repair the fault - and to check this idiot's work too.

EDITED for missing word.

He would have been better off fitting an all-RCBO board. One fault somewhere in the house, and you lose half the power in the house.

The green labels are in the wrong place, and I suspect there are a lot of circuits unlabelled.

Not familiar with the brand, but looks cheap tat.

You have been ripped off by this chancer, though that's not say it all can't be salvaged by someone decent.

I don’t think £400 is ripped off.
Sometimes a CU change could cost £1000.
But shame it’s not working

Surely you can't charge for a consumer unit change if it's not working properly.

EDITED for spelling.
