Hi all
Planning on replacing my garden fence with 6ft feather edge. My question is, when I get to the corner, how should I proceed as the corner post currently serves my neighbours fence too. In other words the fence would look like a T shape from above. Do I replace the corner post and risk disturbing my neighbour’s fence - not to mention the awkward work involved, or do I put my posts close to the corner and oversail the rails and feather edge to the corner. In essence, each side of my fence would be independent. Hope this makes sense.
Thanks in advance
Rob

i would say you need to work out that its definately you fence his fence or shared before you proceed ??
if it definately your fence then you will need to replace the corner or loose 4" and have an off centre fence

Thanks for the reply. I assume the corner post is shared. It also has the rails tennoned into it. I think I’m going to avoid touch it! My only concern is, it looks quite rotten and I worry removing my fence will destroy the integrity of my neighbours adjoining fence.

My plan would mean my new fence won’t have a corner post, my fence would effectively be separate runs of fence, with rails over sailing the final post by a couple of foot in the corners. Any thoughts?

thanks in advance

Could we have a photo of your area of concern, please?

How good is your relationship with the neighbour - are they approachable? Think you need to discuss with them. Who will get the face side and the back side?
