Question about water hammer

My house used to have some issues with banging pipes but it seemed to be resolved and had been fine for last few years.

A few weeks back I got an outside tap fitted which required the mains stop cock to be isolated then obviously opened again.

We noticed straight away a couple of issues, one was a minor bit of water hammer but the much bigger issue was the flow seemed to hugely reduced to the point if you were having a shower or something and another tap was opened you would feel the flow reducing right down. We'd never had this issue before.

To fix it I opened the stop cock a bit more, probably by something between a quarter and half turn. This has more or less fixed the flow problem, I still think it's not quite as good as it was but it's fine. The big issue is that I now have huge water hammer issues, it's doing my nut in, stuff like using the washing machine where the water is start/stop is just constant loud banging.

I'm going to have a look tomorrow but is it likely that the stop cock is now just opened too much? Or could fitting the outside tap have caused any other issues?

Basically I'm not sure how best to try and fix (pretty bad) water hammer

Sorry for late reply on this, I must have missed the notification of your comment.

I can't be certain how open it is I'm comparison to be honest as the plumber isolated and opened.

The banging is quite concerning, I'm going to try and sort it over the weekend, any practical tips on how to go about it?
