weathered mullions

We have a couple of weathered mullions; see attached photos. It's not structural so we are going to leave the loose bits where they are and pack something behind the loose bits. what material should we use please?

Surely those loose bits will fall off and could hit someone. I think you need a stonemason.

fair point but we wouldn't do anything unless it was secure. difficult to see from the photo but the bit is still attached and it will be like recementing a brick back in place.

Aye but - the stone is knackered, even if you did manage to glue it back into place with lime mortar it would still just rot away and fall off. It needs to come off mesh stuff attached and re rendered, not a small job
