Can this open for cleaning?

Have you tried pressing this down into the channel?

It may be that the little pegs will then ride under the lip of the channel allowing a greater opening angle and for the whole thing to slide along to gve access to the outside of the glass.

Watch your fingers.

A bit of WD40 the day before might be a good idea.
 
No movement that I could feel. Was thinking of squeezing the right hand ends together. Will take another look.

Ah - yes - squeezing here so that those little pegs run inside the lip could be it.

Open fully and when the black sliding guide with the V notch meets and compresses the 2 bits you've arrowed you can then slide the whole lot over
 
Opened it fully
This compressed the plastic
