Thanks. The supply was cast iron, from the point at which it enters the footings. I take onboard your point about them possibly digging up the road to crimp the pipe. I didn't know that. Your post is therefore informative. Tnx

OK, I will "bite"... on a street with the old cast pipes how would they do anything differently?

Bernardgreen has taught me that the "gas board" can crimp the gas supply.

From what I could see that would not have been an option.

So the electricity, other than digging up whole road, how do they normally move supplies?

@bernardgreen is not a gas engineer I am , you cant crimp anything on gas , there are some fittings that were crimped a lond time ago

I think opps used the word "crimped" instead using the word "squeezed" ( or squashed ) which is what that tool does to the pipe.

Ok, I am happy to be corrected. I was unaware that they would dig up the road and your garden to move the meter. Frankly I am surprised but willing to accept what you say.

However, you have refused to explain what you mean when you say that you have "sussed me". Calling me a "tit" might well be fair comment but I really do object to your insinuation that I have nefarious intentions. Again, I ask you to look through my previous posts and provide evidence that will back up your malicious slurs.
