BBQ Extractor

Hi all,

so i'm currently building a roofed pergola.

under a section of it I intend to put my charcoal BBQ and gas pizza oven.

I had intended to get a couple of hatches, that completely open and position them above the bbq for when it's in use. But wondered if i'd be better served with an extractor - at least then it'll actually suck the air up and out.



so in the back corner, where the wood is currently stacked is where i'm intending to put a cooking area. I'll be putting 16mm polycarb roofing on it this weekend but want to look at other options for extraction.

I mean you can get bbq huts that purely have a hole in the roof, but want to be a little sensible (despite wanting to bbq under a roof!)

anyone know of a decent outdoor extractor that it's £3000

An un-powered cooker hood, directly over the heat source, should work. The rising heated air will naturally flow up and out once it gets going.

hmm ok, see that's the thing.. A rooflight/hatch is £250, now I don't might getting it but if I'm then buying an extractor too I may as well just cut one hole for the vent and be done with it..

will look into some kitchen hoods.

It doesn't need to be elaborate, just a large enough SS box to collect, then a pipe up and out. Rising heat will do the rest. Our BBQ is against a wall, with a 3" gap at the top, below a roof.

happen to have a photo? be great to see an example.

whats the plan for the boiler flue, all the gases will be trapped under the new polycarbonate roof and be blown all over your guests etc and through your windows
