Its a service pipe by the way as the gas meter is upstairs.the picture is the frontdoor entry from the street.flat above a shop.thx

Sorry, I don’t understand, what makes you think it looks odd? Mdpe service pipe into property and connected up.

I'd suspect it's yellow sleeved, metal pipe, somewhat stronger than MDPE in an exposed location. (Doesn't look an appropriate fitting to terminate MDPE either.) Common practice where the service needs to be taken up externally to a suitable meter position for a property on a higher floor. Rest will be in steel I'd think to the ECV. Stronger than copper and less incentive for someone to try and pinch it....

Hi
Ive only ever seen yellow pipes outside when they are digging up the road .the tenants moving in are very anal so im just making sure they have nothing to complain about.
I googled yellow gas pipe and it says mpde pipe cannot be inside a property exposed.thats why im.confused when the guy at national grid said it fine and no visit.might call them again

Which is why i thought it looked odd.described it to national grid.again they said no visit required we have a made a note on our system.!!one of you said its illegal another says its fine.
This is really worrying me now.

Call cadent (grid ) again you might get someone on the phone who knows what they are talking about this should have been issued out as a job for checking as the person taking the phone calls are not qualified .

Can you take a closer picture of were yellow pipe ends and the fitting on top of it

Thank you.seems consensus says its fine.ultimately its national grid problem anyway i did my best.
