Cover for void fireplace opening

Just had a back boiler removed, now have a void opening.

990mm x 780mm, any ideas what I could use to cover this ?

Must be flat against fireplace so cannot use a radiator cover.

Plasterboard, cement board? Is it a temporary cover or permanent?

It's going to be permanent.
In the old days you could go to your local DIY store and buy off cuts plywood veneered, now it's full sheets only.
