Hi, Back again I'm afraid. Following 3 previous return visits the plumber came and this time changed the warped Donut Seal for a Rubber one. Everything has been OK for two weeks but now there is water under the Cistern again. Do you think there could be a problem with the Bolt fittings? Would it be an idea to take the whole thing out on the step where the underside could be looked at more easily and put water in it to see exactly where its coming from?

Sorry, silly question, but how much water?
I get a LOT of condensation from my cistern. And I'm sure I will be frowned at by the plumbers, but I will always mastic around any rubber seals just to make sure!

If you dont wish to call the plumber back then can you reach the nuts underneath and see if they can be slightly tightend.

Thank you both. Regarding condensation as I have hardly used the Bathroom (about 4 times in last two weeks as I went away twice), I can't see that being the issue. Because of continued leak under the Bath I pop to my nephew up the road for a shower. I will see if I can tighten the bolts on the cistern. This has been going on since they finished the job on 10th May so I am really cheesed off

Thanks, just done that, they were quite tight, only needed maybe quarter of a turn. I'll let you know in awhile if it does the trick.

Hi Everyone, well this morning the new tissue paper I laid last night before I went to bed is wet so my extra turns on the nuts did not work.

I'm sorry to hear that. But I think this suggests that the donut seal may not be the problem!
The donut seal should stop leaks from flushes, but if the leak is constant, that suggests the flush siphon, or bottom fill (if you have one) might be leaking, or even the cistern may have a crack.

Thanks, yes I do have a bottom fill but that is on the opposite corner to the bolts and the wetness is on the side where the bolts are. If it was the filling pipe I would expect the water to run from that point and down the pipe to the floor, but it's not. Funnily enough I did suggest a possible crack or defect with the Cistern but it fell on deaf ears!

Is my suggestion of removing the Toilet to outside positioned so we can see the underneath properly, and putting some water in to see where it's coming from a good idea or not?
