Replacement for unsuitable plug-in PSU

Yup. That's me!

Edit: Oh! Just looked. No that's not me! That has appeared since I bought mine.

If you look at my photo of the 2 pin, you can see that it's not a normal EU plug, it's a blobby angled plug. I wouldn't want that in an adapter really. I doubt whether it would fit securely and I probably wouldn't be happy leaving it charging for hours.

I might go for this one. The picture distinctly shows a UK plug.

I had same problem with the radio bought in Hong Kong the charger was rather floppy in a shaver adaptor, but in a proper EU adaptor upload_2021-7-3_8-41-58.png it holds the sides upload_2021-7-3_8-42-57.png and the plug does not waggle about. It is a CEE 7/16 type C Euro Plug 2.5 amp.

Instead of going through all the hassle of returning it, suggest that your supplier sends you the correct charger for a UK plug and NOT an adapter.
If they do not play ball then yes simply go through the return process with Amazon and get the other one.

I've chatted to someone at Amazon in India I think. They assure me the replacement will come with a 3 pin plug. I doubt it, but I'm going to take a chance. Watch this space! o_O

Replacement arrived today and..... of course it's just the same as the other one o_O
Anyhow, I did another live chat with customer services in India and suggested that if they refunded me half the purchase cost i would buy a replacement power supply.
She said that i have been refunded in full for the returned item and have not been charged for the second!

So... looks like i now need to source the correct power supply and I'm quids in!

Or, another idea, I buy the model I mentioned earlier from Screwfix and hope the adapter is also suited to to the amps needed on this model.
What do you think?

I think. You bought it from Amazon. They have broken the law (twice) by sending you non UK plugs. Contact trading standards. Otherwise Amazon will never learn.

You can use the charger with an appropriate adapter as shown earlier in the thread.

In case anyone else finds this thread...

I bought this : Black 3 A Fused Euro Converter Plug 2 Pole Euro Plug to 3 Pin UK Plug for £5.64

It holds the plug in securely.

An expensive adapter, but because I didn't have to pay Amazon for the charger I don't mind. And 5 months on its in regular use and working fine.

Didn’t Maplin go bust a couple of years ago?
Yes.

A few months after they shut down, someone bought the brand and started a new online-only retailer under the Maplin name. At first their range was very small, it seems to have grown a bit since but it's still a small shadow of the product range the old maplin. In particular electronic components are nowhere to be seen.
