This isn't exactly plumbing but it's related to drinking water ........

I need to seal a crack in a plastic drinking water jug (one of those with a filter to make the tap water taste a bit nicer) - (I also plan to use it to seal a crack in a plastic dog's water bowl which I've been meaning to do for ages).

My original plan was to use standard silicone sealant but I see that some of those can be toxic, even when cured. What is my best option? No doubt plumbing related plastic containers need to have cracks, etc safely sealed at times. I guess one of the following sealants may be suitable?

or is there anything more suitable?

Thanks.

if these have volume or any pressure behind them they probably need changing especially if failure could flood or be continuously fed with water as most repairs wont "fix" the container strength wise so wont stop a crack spreading and leaking further or failing often catastrophically with no notice

I'm afraid to say that none of those will work long term.

Only thing I've ever found to work properly on extruded type plastics is one of the newer UV activated glues that use a UV light to cure it. Nothing else will ever really work properly longer term.

How about epoxy adhesive?

UV Activated glues were developed on the dental platform, they're used for glueing crowns/caps/dentures etc, can't get much more food safe/grade than that methinks.
I'm a great believer in if it can be repaired properly then do so, too much of a throwaway culture these days IMO
