Over a year ago we had a wall replastered. It was left to dry for atleast 8 weeks then it was given 2 mist coats. Started emulsioning with no problem at all - using Dulux Trade Emulsion - all good so far. Putting a second coat of emulsion on I noticed in places in bubbles then takes off the 1st coat of emulsion. Anyone expalin why this is happening. It is not doing it everywhere - just random areas, but I have stopped painting the 2nd coat for obvious reasons.
I now have to try and fill in with thin filler where this paint has blown off.
So my question is - I have heard of Zinsser Peel stop which apparently glues down paint edges.
Should I paint this all over the wall? Has anyone used with or without success? Really need some advice please??
Thanks in advance

I didnt see any when I was putting on mist coats or 1st coat of emulsion!

So has it been almost a year since the mist coats? Or a year since the plastering? The 8 weeks is confusing me as you say it was done after 8 weeks yet a year ago?

Sorry, I didnt make myself clear, - it was plastered over a year ago. Over 8 weeks later it was given 2 mist coats with a few days in between each coat. So about 3 months ago it was given its first coat of Dulux trade emulsion and today I went to give it a second coat of emulsion and then the first layer started to bubble up and lift off. Some places you can see the white mist coats and other parts it goes back to the new plaster. It is not all of the walls just random places. This room isnt used a lot hence the slow decorating.

Gotcha. The fact it goes back to the plaster would suggest a coat of pva was maybe applied before the mist coat?
What did you use for the mist coat ?

Also, could grease have got on the wall or has a dog rubbed against it?

How much did you thin the mist coat?

There is a lot of stoopid advice out there (on the web). Dulux Trade should be watered down by 10% for the mist coat. Some people recommend a 50-50 mix. That soaks in so much that it doesn't deal with the "suction". Two mist coats that thin means that you have wasted your time and that the next coat still needs the 10-90 ratio, before applying a full fat coat.

To make matters even worse, some of those people recommend using "contract" emulsion first (as the dilute mist coat). They are not (reputable) professional decorators.

Sorry for slow reply 50/50 ithinned the paint down - was it too thin or too thick. This is driving me mad now.
I dont know how grease could have gotten onto the wall and no def not the dog unless i have a 7ft dog ha ha (she isnt 2 foot lol).
I have tried to give the wall the remaining 2nd coat and yep youve guessed it blown off in different areas now. I honestly could cry. Not only am I wasting my time but also the paint which is not cheap!!

Also my rollering is crap on this wall too which isnt helping at all. Been fine on all the other walls no problem at all but this wall its bloody awfu.
Have posted pics - the paint is still wet on the wall so its looks like a high sheen but its Diamond matt
Please help and advise someone

Was the room plastered in a very hot environment? Maybe in the summer?
