I have a variable speed pump with 3 settings, does it make a difference what setting this is set to?
It was originally set to the second position but was recently changed to the higher setting by a plumber, just curious what difference this will make.
Thanks

If its in a combi it should be on max. Otherwise you want it on as low a setting as possible to avoid the problems above. Also for each notch you can reduce the setting by you will save roughly £10 a year in electricity.

Hi, when my boiler-Halstead Hero 75 was installed the chap said that as it was a low capacity boiler I should keep the pump switch to high, never any lower, I now have a Grunfos 15/60 and the boiler/system is much quieter since I turned the pump down to 2. The rads all heat up quickly and everything seems ok.

Could I try it on 1, or should I leave it on 2 or even do I have to go back to 3 cos of what the chap said.

Thanks

Arni

Before you do go down to 1 get your installation instructions out and find out where the overheat stat is, if it is resettable and how to reset it.
If your boiler starts tripping out on the overheat stat and / or making 'kettling' noises then you may have to turn it back up again.
Apart from that there's nothing to lose by trying it on 1 and seeing how it goes.

I'll forgive your topic hi-jack as I can see how it was relevant, hopefully the moderators will too, but in future please start your own topic

Many thanks for the advice, point taken re topic also
