The big problem with taking the knee is that you have to make it clear why you are doing it as it then get bundled in with the BLM movement which you may not want to associate yourself with.

Perhaps change the gesture to lowering your head? Unfortunately taking the knee in of itself is meaningless but it seems that it has become too toxic. It began with the NFL player and Trump saw it as a keen opportunity to foment division and it worked. The BLM movement co-opted the gesture in response to Trump continual disparaging of it.

What are your thoughts on the 'raised clenched fist' that often accompanies. It reminded me of reading 'Soul on Ice' by Eldridge Cleaver, an early leader of the Black Panthers.
Not much has changed since the sixties, angry people on both sides of the divide, maybe a few less corpses, and plenty of 'heroes' who will no doubt turn into 'villains'.

I have not seen in the UK any team raise a fist as well.

The problem is that extreme elements are again dictating the debate. Injustice and racism exists today but to accept that does not mean the massive strides that have been made and accepting that as a country we have done better than many others in progressing equality doesn't mean we are now happy with our lot but neither does it mean we should be beaten over the head by not doing ever more. I prefer slow and steady progress.

In the end taking the knee will fizzle out - real and meaningful change takes time.

In fairness the clenched fist salute probably stared in this country with trade unions, communists etc, it was a symbol of solidarity. I didn't really become aware of it till the later days of 'Black Power'.
I think it's all fairly innocent and well intended at the moment.

Examples you consider centrist? It's Fox news without the production values.
Never watched Fox News so can’t comment.

Last night, Michelle Dewberry, presenter, was having a right go at Boris about his levelling up speech. As guests there was Wayne Hemingway and one of the northern mayors. The guests were balanced, one a bit left wing, one a bit right. The presenter was siding with the more left view.

if you actually watch it for a while, it’s pretty balanced.

it has two right wings

hence it keeps going round in circles.

the anti-Boris tory wing may now be in the ascendancy.
