Estimate for small wall required - Huddersfield

I'm not sure where to post as i've tried check a trade several times for various jobs and no-one ever gets back to me.

I'm wanting a small wall building but may consider sleepers if it's feasible - approx 38ft long and 2 ft high to separate the lawn from the edge of the drive/ garage base.
I'd like it level with the base/ drive and either flags or decking boards on top to create a walkway.
Under the lawn i'm guessing is a lot of clay as in that area rain water pools and stands for a couple of days instead of soaking away. Because of this my plan to put sleepers directly onto the ground changed as they'd rot away.
Does anyone have any ideas on cost of a. a wall (bricks/ stone concrete blocks) or b. sleepers (on top of blocks?)

Any other ideas welcome

I'm not really surprised your not getting much interest, that's an awkward labour intensive job at a time when there's plenty of easier better paying jobs about.

The entire 11m trench would need hand digging to probably at least 300mm or more to find something solid, once you've got to a solid base you can decide to put in whatever type of wall you like, the digging would probably take a day to a day and a half, then you'll have the cost of a skip on top to dispose of the spoil then another couple days to build whatever wall you chose so your looking at a weeks work for a tradesman so I'd expect the price to be somewhere near £1500 fully finished

Could you opt for a fence instead and DIY it?

The wall he's proposed is a totally diyable option someone's just got to donkey work digging it all out

I wouldn't expect to need a skip as the loose stones i would use elsewhere in the garden (i'd remove these prior) and anything dug up would be left between the wall/ sleepers and the base/ drive under the flags/ decking

The easiest option if a realistic price wasn't met would be to lay sleepers on top of the blocks set in the grass (2 sleeps high fixed with proper bolts for sleepers), as i wouldn't be walking on these i don't think they'd sink? i could then add more stones, etc behind to bring the level up higher towards the top of the base/ drive and aslong as the sleepers are held with metal stakes in the ground they shouldn't be pushed outwards with the extra pressure ot the extra stones - does this sound better?

If those breeze blocks are being used to keep those gravel boards upright then any weight you put above the gravel boards will push the whole lot over, if your expecting anything you want to install to bear the weight of a person longterm or retain any of what's already there then it needs digging out and doing properly which in the current climate costs a fair bit if your not willing to do it yourself
