Has anyone used the 2 part nexus v75 jointing compound in black?

The product came with 25kg black sand plus the resin and hardner, for our area we required 2

The packaging on the sand states that there will be slight colour variations as its a natural product

The instructions were followed by the book

However to our shock the colour variation in our opinion is significant and unacceptable. You can clearly see a difference in colour between the two batches of sand!

Do you think this level of colour variation is acceptable?

Do i have any recourse with the manufacturer?, it was purchased from a builders merchant

Is there anyway i can get a uniform colour?

I would appreciate people's thoughts on this forum

Pic attached, our preference was the actual black on the left not the grey on the right :(

Mix the sand together

Seems it could be a tad late for that....

@ash1212002 , I suspect recourse could be hard, the merchant will say you should have checked batch numbers, or split the bags and mixed.

How long have they been down, maybe it will even out?

Can you check the package to see if they were the same batch? Could try with the merchant to get something back, you might get another bag to match one of them if they were different batches. Won't help with the labour though!

Or if they have the same batch numbers, you could appeal to the manufacturer, who may help. But likely just some free replacement materials, very unlikely to offer anything more :(

Yeah you won't get anything back on that I'm afraid,

Ideally when reading there might be slight colour difference you should have mixed the bags to get an even colour.

The manufacturer have done what they needed to by labeling the bag as such.

Unfortunately will have to remove it and start again or learn to live with it.

Put it down to experience,

@phatboy @sxturbo

The sand was in 2 25kg sealed bags, labelled black and had no batch numbers. And no mention in the instructions of mixing bags etc

Surprised that there were no batch numbers, where's the quality control?

Appreciate there would be variations in colour but not to this extent

It was laid this morning and its solid and no change to the colour.

I'm considering buying another kit that's definitely the black i want and going over it again to try and save it
