Is there plasterboard or the like with a space behind under the tiles that fumes could travel from a leaky pan conector

I guess the next step is to probably work out how to take that fancy toilet off and see how well the pan is connected up to the soil stack?
I would also like to sort the sink so it has a proper trap on it as currently it looks too crammed in and it takes up a lot of space. Do you think the outlet should be dropped a couple of brick courses? I guess the best thing to do here would be take out a brick and swap it. Easy enough to do with a bit of patience and the right tools?

Yeah, this could be it. I guess the first thing would be establish if the pan is leaking somehow? To do this it'll mean removing the toilet and inspecting I guess? Thanks.
Lowering the outlet will take up even more space. Unless its camera angle, personally I can't see anything wrong with what you have to warrent cutting another hole and fixing the old,+ its hidden in the unit which is part if its function.
Are the holes in the walls where the pipes run open? They don't look sealed? An extractor fan can pull in outside air from this gap...perhaps bringing in the smell from the stack vent...

Sounds like pan connector rubber has come off/ drifted.

Cool thanks for that advice. I guess I could reconfigure it so the run to the wall is inline with the basin outlet so it takes up less space that way?
As you say, creating a new hole in the wall will be a lot of work and not necessary. As long as it’s got a fall which is currently has it should be fine right?
