not sure if I'm posting in the right place here ...

Our loft is starting to smell like a sewer. I think this is the culprit. There are stains on the flooring and on the insulation.

Also in winter this year, a lot of condensation was forming on the roof membrane and constantly dripping to the loft floor. Is this related in any way?

Thanks for any advice!

It’s an air addmitence valve it lets the soil pipe breathe you could make it longer and take it through the roof that would get rid of the problem. Bob

could there be another extractor vent leaking too? I had this in my loft and it created a huge amount of condensation.
was a tiny leak but enough to create a lot of moisture in the loft.

Looks like it could be an air admittance valve, and could be source of problem.

Good shout. I'll look into this.

Thanks Bob. If I wanted to get a tradesperson out to take a look would it be a plumber? And will I have to get rid of the insulation that is stained?
